What we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.
Last updated 16 August 2026
The short version
We collect three things: what you type into the contact form, your email address if you subscribe, and ordinary server logs. We do not sell any of it, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.
What we collect, and why
The contact form. Your first name, your city, your email address, your message, and the two choices you make in the dropdowns. We need the email to reply to you and to ask permission before publishing anything. The name and city are only used if you tell us we may use them.
The email list. Your email address, and nothing else. It is used to send the one email described on the Join page.
Server logs. Our host records IP addresses, browser type and pages requested, as almost every web server does. These are used for security and to keep the site running, and are not linked to your form submission.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not run behavioral advertising or third-party ad trackers. We do not build a profile of you. We do not require an account to read anything on this site.
Stories you send us
If you send us a story, nothing is published without a reply from you confirming it, whatever you selected on the form. You choose whether we use your first name and city, publish it anonymously, or ask you again before anything goes up.
Please do not send us somebody else’s private moment without asking them first. If a story is about a named person or business and we cannot confirm it, we either mark it unconfirmed or do not run it.
Cookies
The site uses only the cookies WordPress sets to keep it working, and a session cookie if you log in as an administrator. There are no advertising or analytics cookies at the time of writing. If we ever add analytics, this page will say so before we switch it on.
Who else sees your data
Our web host stores the site and its database on our behalf. If we later use an email delivery service to send the newsletter, that provider will process your email address for that purpose only. We will name any such provider here once it is in place.
How long we keep it
Contact form submissions are kept while we are dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards as a record of the permission you gave us. Subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Ask us to delete either and we will.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from any email we send, using the link in it. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will act on that request. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA, and we will honour those too.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, say so on the site.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request about your data, can be sent through the contact form, or by post to KINDR Foundation, P.O. Box 5530, Eugene, OR 97405, United States.
